ZERO OR ONE TROPICAL CYCLONE THIS MARCH, PAGASA

A tropical cyclone might enter or form within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this month of March or nothing at all, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The possible first storm will be named "Aghon."  The chances of having typhoons are still low, but it is still possible, zero or one, weather specialist Benison Estareja of PAGASA said.

The country will experience most of the tropical cyclones in July. Due to the Philippines geographical location, it is prone to tropical cyclones, which typically produce intense rainfall and flooding that could cause significant human casualties as well as damage to houses and crops.

While the rest of the country will be affected by the easterlies, Northern Luzon will have lightly rain showers due to the northeast monsoon, or "amihan.”

The amihan will likely affect the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and the Cordillera Administrative Region, where conditions will range from partly cloudy to overcast skies.

Due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms, Metro Manila and the rest of the country would probably experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, Estareja said.
