Some areas in Metro Manila and Cavite will be out of water for seven to twenty-four hours. Apart from Las Piñas, there will also be water interruption in some places in Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Pasay, and Bacoor Cavite for a period of 24 hours from today. Posted on Maynilad’s Facebook Page are the affected Barangays.
This is due to the temporary closure of the Poblacion Water Treatment Plant as a transition to push its ability to supply triple the current 150 million liters. Plant shutdown needs to be done to complete everything to be done in the plant. Water tankers will be deployed – Engr. Ronald Padua Maynilad Water Supply Operations Head.
An additional 20 million will be produced for the new modular water treatment plant in Putatan Muntinlupa that can clean water from Laguna Lake.
The volume of water that used to be supplied from Angat to Cavite will no longer be pushed. This water from Laguna Lake will help there. And in effect, the requirement will be reduced if there is indeed a shortfall in the allocation from Angat, it will still be filled.
According to MWSS, it is possible to reduce the water pressure from Angat Dam this summer. According to the El Niño Task Force, there are 137 deep wells on standby in case the water supply in Metro Manila runs aground.
