The easterlies and the northeast monsoon or amihan are expected to bring light and scattered rains in several areas of the country this week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.
The state weather bureau forecasted that easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands in Caraga and Davao Oriental. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.
The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains, particularly in the eastern parts of Northern and Central Luzon, including the Cagayan Valley region, as well as Aurora and Quezon with the possibility of flash floods or landslides occurring due
to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, but with no significant impact.
The rest of the country on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.
Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Northern Luzon, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
At the moment, PAGASA are not monitoring any low-pressure area inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
