TRUCK DRIVER KILLED AFTER CRASHING INTO AN ARCH IN LAGUNA

A 16-wheeler truck crashed into an arch in Barangay Marinig in Cabuyao Laguna. The arch is said to be paved so the driver of the truck died when it fell. According to the authorities, it took three hours before the trapped driver was released from the vehicle.

People from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and people from the barangay helped to remove the driver after the roof and front part of the 16-wheeler truck was destroyed due to the impact of the crash.

According to the barangay head of Marinig, it is possible that the driver did not notice that the arch on the road was not that elevated and the truck was too high so it collided and fell into the truck. The arch is said to be concrete and steel so it has weight and size. 

Road signs were placed along the roads and no truck pass by on the area that’s why the authorities are thinking how did the truck get there, "Our barangay is not really a road for vehicles. That's Laguna de Bay. Our road is not that wide for these cars.”

According to the city information office, "What happened to him is a heavy trauma because it's the main arch that fell over the truck, it looks really fatal, the top part is also crushed. It took us some time but all the necessary efforts were done.”

"Since it's a 16-wheeler, it's a bit complex to transport it. We have a plan in place to remove it. We have a facility across the bridge we can put it there first so we could remove the blockage safely."

The driver was said to be with a porter, but after he asked for help and the number of people increased, the porter ran. The barangay wants to find the porter to clarify the whole story for the incident.
