It is possible that traffic will slow down on some roads in Metro Manila starting tonight due to the transfer of the tunnel boring machine that will be used in the Metro Manila Subway project. According to the Department of Transportation, the giant machine will be moved from Manila Harbor Center to Camp Aguinaldo Station.
It will go through Port/R-1o, C3 Road, 5th Avenue, G.Araneta Avenua, E.Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, Gilmore Avenue, and Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue. It starts at 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Saturday (May 10-11). It will continue from Saturday night to Sunday morning (May 11-12).
Motorists are advised to seek an alternative route. The machine will be used in the construction of tunnels that will connect Camp Aguinaldo and Ortigas Station of the Subway project.
A depot and a 33-kilometer railway line with 17 stations will be built as part of the Metro Manila Subway project to link Valenzuela City and Pasay City. A spur line will also be built to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
The project's current estimated total cost is P488.5 billion, of which P117.7 billion would be funded by the Philippine government and P370.7 billion by an official development assistance (ODA) loan from JICA.
Meanwhile, for motorists traveling on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), two lanes will be closed starting Friday night, May 10. It affects lanes 1 and 2 of the northbound and southbound of the expressway, particularly the part near the Eternal Gardens Memorial Park or before Balintawak toll plaza.
The lane closure was put in place every night until dawn to avoid heavy traffic, it will be implemented until May 16. Based on the validity of the NLEX, he will give way to the construction of the Northern Access Link Expressway project that will connect Metro Manila to Central Luzon.
