TOLL REBATE AND TOLL INCREASE ACCORDING TO TOLL REGULATORY BOARD

A refund was implemented on expressways for trucks that deliver vegetables and other agricultural products to markets starting June to help lower the price of food in the market according to the Toll Regulatory Board TRB).
Some selected expressways will provide toll rebates for trucks and other vehicles carrying agricultural products to reduce costs for farmers and lower food prices.

Starting June 1, class 1 vehicles such as cars and class 2 vehicles such as buses that will pass between Balintawak and Tarlac will get P2 to P80 rebate in NLEX. Class 3 vehicles such as trailer trucks will receive P16 to P211.
In SLEX, the discount is P10 to P30 if you pass between Alabang and Calamba. P4 to P8 from Calamba to Sto. Tomas, while P2 to P6 on the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX).
To qualify for the rebate, a DA Accreditation Certificate copy of vehicle registration, valid ID, and EasyTrip RFID or Autosweep card are required. TRB reminded that the loaded agriculture products will still be charged, it will be automatically refunded to their RFID wallet after one week. It can be used the next time they pass the expressway.
The rebate program will be implemented for three months before deciding whether to continue it. To guarantee compliance, toll operators have issued a warning that they will be performing random audits and spot checks. Anybody caught transporting things that aren't approved will be removed from the program.
The Department of Finance Assistant Secretary Eufrocinio Bernabe said that, “The rationale for implementing these measures is to protect the welfare of the general public by preventing second round effects of the toll rate increase on food inflation.”
However, a toll hike in NLEX might be possible for June if the second tranche of increase will be aprroved according to TRB Executive Director Alvin Carullo.
“The toll rate increase was divided into two, 50 percent for 2023 and 50 percent for 2024,” said Carullo.
According to Carullo, the possibility of extra payment will be P0.36 per kilometer in the closed system and an extra P7 in the open system, exactly as it was previously.
In addition to NLEX, there are current proposals for toll increases on the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX), the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
