STRANDED RO-RO VESSEL IN ROMBLON, 168 PASSENGERS RESCUED

Late Sunday night March 10, a ship from Magdiwang Port left bound to Romblon, runs aground around 11:45 p.m. where the ship touches the shallow part of the sea and get stuck in waters off Sitio Agbuyog, Barangay Capaclan Romblon. With 168 passengers on board, 55 crew members and 21 rolling cargoes according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The said passenger vessel was MV SWM Salve Regina, upon discovering that the ship runs aground, the Coast Guard Station Romblon correspondent with local authorities to initiate the passengers’ safe evacuation.
The PCG said that the CGS Romblon and its operational control units immediately checked the passengers and crews’ condition upon arriving at the incident, “who were all in good condition”.
All the vessels passenger were safely brought to Romblon public plaza around 3:43 a.m., while the crew ship members stayed at the MV SWM Salve Regina for vessel monitoring.
The CGS Romblon personnel continuously monitored the vessel stranded, no flooding was observed and no sign of oil spillage on the vessel, PCG stated.
