According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRM), the province has “already reached the thresholds, and we can already declare that we are in an outbreak.”
"If we have an outbreak, you reach a different level. Due to the outbreak, we shifted into disaster mode and issued an executive order, placing our DRRM together with the provincial civil defense cluster on blue alert," it added.
Since January, the local government of Iloilo have repeatedly emphasized the importance of preparation, monitoring, and the implementation of the 5S strategy, especially during the dry season and as the rainy season has begun, through the ‘Limpyo Iloilo’ program.
According to the DOH, outbreak epidemic is only formally used to describe how widespread the dengue problem is. But they believe that identifying dengue hotspots will help the local government take action quickly. This rainy season when various vector diseases are expected to spread, the agency also explained why it is more important to consult doctors when any symptoms felt.
