SKYWAY MOTORCYCLE INCIDENT, MARCH 10

Sunday morning on the Northbound of Skyway stage 3 covered by Balintawak Quezon City, a motorcycle that was going counterflow suddenly appeared and collided with the oncoming vehicle. With the force of the impact, the rider was thrown.

The rider died in the hospital a few hours later after the incident. It appears from the investigation that the rider came from E. Bonifacio Avenue and wet up the off ramp of the Skyway northbound going to NLEX. A patroller even tried to block him but he just passed. 

The speed of the motorcycle is estimated to be 80kph beyond the 60kph speed limit on the Skyway. In addition to not wearing a helmet, the rider also did not have a license and was suspected of under the influence of alcohol.

His motorcycle is only 150cc which is lower than the 400cc or more that is allowed on the expressway. The driver of the vehicle and even the rider’s relatives refused to give a statement. 

According to the authorities, the relatives has already submitted an Affidavit of Desistance or a statement that they will no longer file a complaint.
