SIGNAL NO. 1 & 2 ARE RAISED AS TYPHOON “AGHON” INTENSIFIES; 4 INJURED, 1 DEAD

Typhoon “Aghon” gets stronger while targeting Aurora province, the center of typhoon “Aghon” was again spotted in the coastal waters of Casiguran in Aurora, carrying gusts of up to 170 kph and peak winds of 140 kph close to the center and moving north-east to speed of 10kph.
Typhoon “Aghon” is expected to grew stronger in the next few days and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday. The typhoon made landfall nine times due to its changing direction.

Wind signal No.2 is raised in the southeastern portion of Isabela (Dinapigue, Palanan) and the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran). Expect minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds.
While signal no.1 raised under the northeastern and southern portion of Isabela (Divilacan, San Mariano, San Guillermo, Jones, Echague, San Agustin, Ilagan City, Benito Soliven, City of Cauayan, Maconacon, Angadanan, Naguilian), the eastern portion of Quirino (Maddela, Nagtipunan, Aglipay), the southern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Alfonso Castaneda), the rest of Aurora, the northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Real) including Polillo Islands, the northwestern portion of Camarines Norte (Paracale, Jose Panganiban, Vinzons, Capalonga) including Calaguas Islands according to 8 a.m. Pagasa bulletin.
Meanwhile, four people were injured when Typhoon “Aghon” hit the Bicol region. According to the NDRRMC report, four passengers of a tricycle were injured after being hit by a fallen tree in Legazpi City Albay.
More than 2,700 residents were evacuated due to the impact of typhoon “Aghon”. More than 20 houses were damaged including four destroyed by the tornado in Lavezares, Northern Samar at the same time typhoon “Aghon” struck.
In Padre Burgos Quezon, an infant was dead after drowning when their home was destroyed by the strong floods due to typhoon “Aghon.”
Several trees fall down due to the intense winds brought by the typhoon. In Roxas Boulevard Pasay City an acacia tree falls down obstructing the road. In front of St. John the Baptish Parish in Taytay Rizal, a century-old acacia tree also fell down on two vehicles parked.
Meanwhile, 28 areas in the country will experience danger level heat indexes up to 46°C this Monday despite the typhoon “Aghon.”
