Large grassfires broke out in separate towns in Cebu, Cotabato and Pangasinan on Wednesday evening. In barangay Lower Magcagong town of Sibonga Cebu, fire engulfed coconut trees, bananas, and bamboos.

Around four in the afternoon, it took three hours before the grassfire was completely extinguished. Just a few hours later, the three hectares of grass in Barangay San Isidro San Fernando Cebu caught fire. The fire spread quickly because of the wind, the firemen also had difficulty extinguishing the fire because it was in the higher parts of the area.

Residents came out of their houses in Barangay Tamontaka 1 Cotabato City, after their area was engulfed in thick smoke due to the grassfire, which was also extinguished by the BFP.

A part of Mt. Arayat in Pampanga also light up due to forest fire, according to BFP, forest fire is often caused by the extreme heat of the weather, people throwing away cigarettes, and people making charcoal in the forest.

A portion of the mountain's protected forest reservation area as well as a private property totaled about 18 hectares of destroyed land. This forest fire in April 2024 is the second one to occur in the mountain. In the meantime, some 12 hectares of grasslands in Dagupan City and Calasiao, Pangasinan, were scorched by grass fires which also occurred.
