Comedy actress Rufa Mae Quinto surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)in relation to allegations of securities fraud following an arrest warrant issued by a Pasay court.

NAIA-NBI Chief Jimmy De Leon confirmed that Quinto's lawyer coordinated with the NBI for her voluntary surrender. "Quinto underwent a medico-legal examination before being brought to the Pasay court," De Leon said.

Quinto returned to the Philippines from San Francisco, California after a warrant for her arrest was issued over 14 counts of alleged violations of the Securities Regulation Code. Which states that securities such as shares and investments may not be sold in the Philippines without a registration statement duly filed with and approved by the SEC.

Quinto maintained her innocence, emphasizing that she, too, was allegedly a victim of the company. The comedienne is facing a case in relation to the issue of Dermacare, the same company involved in the arrest of actress-entrepreneur Neri Naig.

“I’m also a victim here, so we will face everything. Also, it’s not good because my reputation is being ruined here. That’s why now, I will face this to clear my name,” said Quinto.

Atty. Mary Louise Reyes, Quinto's legal counsel, asserted that the actress and comedienne is a victim of false accusations. She disclosed that the skincare company in question still owes her payment for endorsing their products.

Based on the report, all cases are bailable at ₱126,000 each, amounting to a total of ₱1.7 million. The arraignment and pre-trial hearing for the very urgent motion for reinvestigation filed by their camp is set for Thursday, January 9.
