PROPOSED MANDATORY HEAT BREAK FOR WORKERS

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will study the proposed mandatory heat break for workers. In an interview, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said that they will look at the implications of this before they issue a rule.
They call on employers to perhaps adjust the employee's rest time and temporarily move the work location if the place they work is hot.
The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECO) said they have no problem with the precautions being promoted now that the weather is so hot. But he said that the heat break should not be made mandatory for all workers, their situation is different.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast that during this country’s’ hot weather, heat index have reached danger level or more than 42°C.
Some netizens posted on their social media cooking outside their house using direct sunlight showing that the heat temperature is intense. The Department of Health continues to warn the public to stay safe during this hot season, and avoid staying too long on direct sunlight that can cause health problems.
This hot season had also greatly affected the agriculture in the country causing million looses on the livelihood of the Filipinos. It also caused the education sector in the Philippines to suspend face-to-face classes or adjust the class hours due to intense heat.
