POWER INTERRUPTION IN METRO MANILA, LAGUNA; AND WATER LOSS IN CAVITE

Several areas in Metro Manila and Laguna will temporarily loss electricity supply in the first week of April due to scheduled maintenance work by the Manila Electric Company or Meralco.
According to Meralco, including some areas in the UP Campus, some parts of Quezon City, Navotas, Makati, Pasig, Muntinlupa, and Laguna will also experience power interruption.
The Department of Energy (DOE) first said that the Luzon grid may be on yellow alert in April and May due to the effect of El Niño, particularly in the operation of hydroelectric powerplants. Despite this, Meralco assured that they continue to communicate with the department and that there are measurements in case of a power supply crisis.
On the other hand, Maynilad also announced a water interruption in several barangays of Imus, Cavite. The water service interruption started early in the morning and will last until evening this Monday, maintenance activities and unexpected emergency repair.
Affected barangays of water interruption will be: Anabu I-D, Anabu I-F, Anabu II-A, Anabu II-D, Alapan I-C, Anabhu I-A to I-F, Bayan Luma I to IX, Bucandala I to V, Carsadong Bago I to II, Malagasang I-A to I-D, Malagasang I-G, Medicion I-B, Poblacion III-B, Poblacion IV-B, Poblacion IV-D, and Tanzang Luma VI, according to water concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc.
Water levels in Angat and Ipo dams are decreasing due to the dry season of El Niño, 198.81 is now’s Angat water level which is still above its minimum operating level. Angat dam supplies water greater on Metro Manila area’s west zone. While Ipo dam is currently at 99.82 meters that is below its minimum operating level of 101 meters.
There’s still no rain on the dam for the past weeks and the hot weather resulting to high consuming of water causes the water level on Angat Dam to slowly decreasing, the water concessionaire stated.
