The connections of POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) are getting deeper and wider in the country. This is what ‘s discovered in the Senate's executive session on the illegal operation of POGO and the alleged connection of Bamban Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
In an interview, Senate committee on ways and means Chairperson Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian said that the POGO operators are also partnering and influencing with local crime syndicates in the country such as drug lords and others.
"This is scary, even our local crime syndicates are already working with local crime syndicates, so they have foreigners, these are mostly Chinese syndicates and they now have connections with local syndicates," Gatchalian stated.
The Senator insisted, this is what he fears will grow and expand, there are also evidences that Mayor Guo has connection to it. Senator Gatchalian once again called on President Bongbong Marcos to ban POGO in the country, which was also agreed by the National Security Council officials who attended the session.
“I call on the President to ban this POGO, don't only look at one side, the income, but the whole thing that is destroying our society. When its roots get deeper and deeper, it will be difficult to pull it out in our country,” he said.
Senator Risa Hontiveros said, “When the executive session was about to end, one of the calls made to NSC was to elevate the issue of Pogo as a national security threat to the President. If the President himself says Pogo’s must now be expelled from the Philippines, in a few months, that can start happening.”
