The public will benefit from the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) once the said project is completed. Undersecretary Jeremy Regino for railways of DOTR said, the travel time will be shorter on this railway, because he said it is not like the PNR wagons that have speed limit restrictions.
Regino added that the new railways are also connected to other train lines and the safety of passengers will be better ensured because of the automatic warning system that will be used.
The agency previously announced that PNR stations in Metro Manila will be temporarily closed starting this March 28 to speed up the construction of the new railway.
The Governor Pascual-Tutuban and Tutuban-Alabang operations are covered by the temporary shutdown.
Initially, 25 buses will be deployed near the train stations for the commuters who take PNR daily. Commuters are worried about the temporary shutdown of the railway making it more hassle for them to commute.
The 147-kilometer said project will shorten the travel time for less than two hours from Clark, Pampanga to Calamba, Laguna, and can cater 800,000 passengers daily.
