Pinay weightlifter who qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Rosegie Ramos is the seventh weightlifter representing Philippines in Paris. She got the slot after winning the women’s 49kg category in the Olympic qualifying tournament of the International Weightlifting Federation in Phuket, Thailand.
The 20-year-old weightlifter is from Zamboanga city and also the cousin of Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.
President Monico Puentevella of Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas said that, “She made it. We’re just waiting for the IWF computation and formal announcement.”
Puentevella believes that Ramos’ performance will be enough to assure her a spot in the Top 10 of the weight categories and will surely qualify for Paris.
The Philippine Olympic Committee announced as the two-time Asian junior champ and Southeast Asian Gamez bronze winner topped Group B of women’s 49-kilogram with a total lift of 190kg, and impressing as the best athlete in the category in 87kg in snatch (silver) and 103kg (silver) in clean and jerk.
Together with EJ Obiena, Carlos Yulo, Aleah Finnegan, Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas, will fight and represent the Philippines for the Paris Olympics.
