Commuters and motorists in Antipolo, Rizal had a hassle ride due to a pole blocking the road after being knocked down by a collision with a pickup truck, the driver admitted that he took a nap.
The front of a pick up vehicle was destroyed after hitting an electricity power pole on Sumulong Highway Antipolo City at four o'clock in the morning on Wednesday.
With the force of the impact, the pole fell onto the road and cables and telephone lines were scattered. The electricity transformer also fell.
According to the responding authorities, the driver was already outside the pick-up when they arrived. The driver is conscious and complains of pain in the nose and chest.
The driver admitted that he had taken a nap while driving, which is why he had the accident. The driver was immediately taken to the hospital.
Meralco staff arrived in the area to assist in the clearing operation. Except for the opposite shopping mall, no residential areas or other commercial establishments lost power.
The problem is, this incident caused heavy traffic on the road after the road was closed. It was past six o'clock in the morning when the road where the pole fell was reopened.
