PHILIPPINES HELD ANOTHER GUINNESS WORLD RECORD

Ahead in celebration of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, 2024, the Philippines tried to break the record for the World’s largest human lung formation Saturday morning March 16, 2024 at the Quirino Grandstand.
Thousands of Filipinos from different Local Government Unit’s participated on the event wearing green and orange colors. Waking early and excited to join the event, representing the Philippines to the whole world raising awareness about TB.
To break the last record of India in 2017 with 5,007 individuals, the Philippines had 5,596 setting a new record. Guinness gave three attempts, and setting the new record after its successful second attempt.
The adjudicator from the Guinness World Records Chong Wai Yip then announced that the Philippines held its another Guinness World Record for the biggest human lung formation.
The event was led by the Department of Health, together with its development partners, the enormous initiative aims to address the stigma toward a TB-free Philippines.
Cases of tuberculosis in the country is rising reaching 612,534 as of December 31, 2023, every 100,000 population records 549 cases of tuberculosis. With that, the advocacy of the event “Yes! We can end TB”, Department of Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa reminded the Filipinos of the importance of getting checked for tuberculosis.
