PHASE 1 OF LRT-1 CAVITE EXTENSION TO BE OPEN THIS YEAR 2024

Phase 1 of the LRT 1 Cavite Extension that will connect Pasay City and some parts of Paranaque City will be opened and completed in the coming September or October before the end of 2024. According to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, it will pass through places that many passengers usually go to.

According to the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) the construction of the first part of the LRT-Cavite Extension will have five new stations. This includes the MIA station near DFA Aseana, and the Asia World station where the drop-off is right at the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX). Those going to the Airport can get off at Ninoy Aquino Station near NAIA, and Dr. Santos station, because of the new stations it is expected that more Filipinos will be served by LRT line 1.

“With 50,000 passengers passing through this, we expect that the number of private cars and public utility vehicles will decrease so that will really contribute to solving some of the traffic problems,” said Bautista.

The government will apply the same fare matrix for the extension, similar to the existing Line 1 according to Transportation Assistant Secretary for Rails Jorjette Aquino. “Regarding the fare, currently, we will be applying the same fare, which is P13.29, boarding fare and for distance fare, we're going to allow up to a minimum amount so that's the same as the existing line for LRT1 and LRT2.”

By the year 2031, Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the project are expected to be completed. 

LRMC President/CEO Jose Ma. K.
