PH DEMAND CHINA FOR P60M OVER SEA CLASH; PCG RESCUES INJURED CHINESE SEAFARER
Following the June 17 incident at Ayungin Shoal between the Philippines and China where a Filipino sailor was wounded and damaged the Philippines’ naval equipment, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is demanding the Chinese government to pay P60 million.
After the CCG halted the former's resupply mission to BRP Sierra Madre near Ayungin Shoal, the forces of the Philippines and China were involved in a violent clash in the West Philippine Sea.

Two motorboats are reported to have been destroyed by Chinese forces, along with some of the officers' personal belongings and firearms.
China, on the other hand, did not state clearly whether or not it would pay. “The Philippine side should face the consequences of its own action,” Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning responded in these words when asked about whether China would pay the Philippines P60 million.
On the other hand, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said that it conducted a rescue operation where a Chinese seafarer cut his left thumb in the waters off Caluya, Antique. the PCG said the 35-year-old second engineer of Hong Kong-flagged bulk carrier MV BBG Qinzhou was accidentally cut by a fan blade which resulted in severe pain.
“The 35-year-old second engineer said he was accidentally cut by a fan blade or metal, resulting in significant pain and requiring hospital treatment,” the PCG said in a statement on Friday.
“In coordination with the captain and vessel’s agent, the PCG deployed BRP Kalanggaman to the rendezvous area at 1.5 nautical miles of Nogas Island, Anini-y, Antique,” the PCG added.
Furthermore, the military issued an advisory to the public not to panic after Sen. Imee Marcos claims to have information from China regarding the alleged deployment of hypersonic missiles to 25 Philippine bases that the US military could use under the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA).
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said, "Our only request is that if possible our compatriots do not panic because of this information. Your Armed Forces of the Philippines, including the security sector of our country, we are all helping each other so that we can see our true situation."
