Malacañang announced the suspension of government offices and classes in all levels in the cities of Pasay and Manila on January 13, 2025 for the Iglesia Ni Cristo's National Rally for Peace under Memorandum Circular No.76.
The memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, stated that the suspension was in view of the numerous participants and attendees of the ''National Rally for Peace'' and to allow the organized conduct of the event.
The suspension of classes is for both private and public schools. "Those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services."
"Suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads," it added.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), about 1 million people from different provinces is anticipated in the event to be held at the Quirino Grandstand. Traffic congestion is also foreseen on Monday since the attendees are expected to be transported by cars, vans, and buses.
MMDA Traffic Operations Officer Manny Miro said the following roads around Rizal Park area will be closed: Katigbak Drive, South Drive, Roxas Boulevard (from U.N. Avenue to P. Burgos), TM Kalaw, Bonifacio Drive (from P. Burgos to Anda Circle), and Maria Orosa.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes like U.N. Avenue and Quirino Avenue, and also trucks to take the Quirino Ave-Lacson-Capulong-R10 route during the road closure. Around 1,300 MMDA personnel will be deployed to manage the traffic situation on Monday.
The INC will conduct its “National Rally for Peace” on Monday to express its support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s opposition to the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
