Malacañang declared half-day government work and classes at all levels nationwide on Thursday (October 31) for the commemoration of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on November 1 and 2.
Employees will only be up to 12 noon, while suspension of classes in private schools and work in private companies is meanwhile left to the discretion of their respective heads or employers.
The announcement was made through memorandum circular no. 67 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin.
However, the Palace clarified that agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, as well as disaster response, would continue with their operations.
The Senate of the Philippines also announced the suspension off work on October 31 in observance of Undas. Meanwhile, personnel of the Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms and Maintenance and General Services Bureau on duty are required to report for work on those days.
"Upon the instruction of Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero, Senate employees need not to report to work on Thursday, 31 October 2024, in order to give the officers and staff of the Senate more time to observe All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day," the Senate advisory read.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) also suspend the expanded number coding scheme in Metro Manila from Thursday, October 31 to Friday, November 1.
Meanwhile, the Makati City will also suspend its Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program on Thursday starting at 12:00 p.m. in line with the suspension of work in government.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier declared Nov. 1 and 2 as special non-working holidays to allow Filipinos to commemorate the Christian festival of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
