More storms are expected to enter the country before the year ends brought by La Niña phenomenon according to the weather state bureau Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). For the over next two days, the country is not expecting any tropical cyclone or low-pressure area (LPA).
From August to December, up to 14 tropical cyclones may enter or form inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). "When July, August, September comes, the number of typhoons is few. But in October, November, December, there are more.”
On Pagasa’s forecast, typhoons or high-impact weather events are not seen for the next two weeks. There are outside the country but it is going to Japan so it is not that concern. In the coming two weeks, monsoons will continue to prevail so August will be rainy.
The country is in the rainy season now, and that is also concurrent with the monsoons. And the monsoons will continue generally until September or mid of October. Habagat (southwest monsoon) is the main culprit of the heavy rains last July which is one of the extreme events according to Pagasa.
On a thunderstorm advisory released by the agency, moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Rizal, Metro Manila, Cavite and Batangas.
Heavy to intense rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are being experienced in Pampanga (Magalang, Mabalacat, Angeles, Arayat, Mexico, Porac), Tarlac (Concepcion, San Jose), Laguna (Los Banos, Calamba, Bay, San Pablo, Majayjay), Quezon (Lucban, Tayabas, Sampaloc, Mauban) and Zambales (Palauig) which may persist within 2 hours and may affect nearby areas.
The public are reminded to be mindful of thunderstorms and localized thunderstorms, which could bring heavy rains, especially in low-lying areas. And are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides.
