The Philippine Statistics Authority has confirmed that the circulating Facebook post of having a PhilSys ID provides cash assistance.
The public is reminded to be careful because this is a scam or fake news, which will get P5,000 financial assistance.
Moreover, Matteo Guidicelli warned against the spreading ad that used his photo to scam. In his post on X, Matteo included a screenshot of an ad about the alleged cash assistance to those with a National ID. His wife Sarah Geronimo is with him in the photo.
Matteo said in the post, “Big SCAM. Please be careful.” The Guidicelli couple are also celebrity ambassadors of the Philippine statistics authority which is in charge of the distribution of the national id.
The Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reminded that the National ID tops the list of valid ID’s accepted in banks. The BSP said that they have instructed all banks and other financial institutions to put the Philippine identification card or Phil ID, physical or electronic on the top list of acceptable ID.
However, it will still go through bank authentication. In this regard, the BSP has issued a memorandum requiring banks and financial institutions to display a list of accepted valid ID’s at the premises of their branches.
