OCTA SURVEY SHOWS 83% FILIPINOS SUPPORT POGO BAN IN THE COUNTRY

The polling, research, consulting firm OCTA Research conducted the Tugon ng Masa survey regarding the ban of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) in the country. The survey result shows that majority of adult Filipinos support the ban of Pogo.
The non-commissioned survey was conducted from June 26 to July 1 this year using face-to-face interviews. Out of 1,200 respondents, 83 percent answered “Yes” that they agree and support Pogo operations should be banned in the Philippines.

The highest support for Pogo ban was among the respondents in Balance Luzon with 90 percent. Followed by among respondents from Visayas (81 percent), Mindanao (78 percent), and Metro Manila with 73 percent.
Among the 85 percent has the highest voting preference and would support candidates in the 2025 midterm elections that supports banning Pogo operations in the country. And 12 percent say that they would not support candidates in favor of total Pogo ban.
While, 12 percent disagree with the said statement which was highest in the National Capital Region (NCR) wit 20 percent. The remaining 5 percent was neutral saying they do not know enough to give an opinion on the topic.
On President Bongbong Marcos third State of the Nation Address (SONA), he ordered the total ban of POGO in the country and told the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) to wind down and cease the operations of POGOs by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, according to Senator Grace Poe, despite the directive from the President, a law should be passed to permanently stop it, “There must be a law (to ban POGO). Like the e-sabong (online cockfighting), it is banned. And yet, we all know that it still exists. So aside from the law, our law enforcement must implement the laws that will be passed. Otherwise, nothing will happen.”
Public should also be vigilant against illegal online gambling and to help the Bureau of Immigration to deport all foreign national who were caught in the country, Poe added.
