According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), a new low pressure area (LPA) may possibly form inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) over the weekend.
“Over this weekend until Monday, it is possible that an LPA will form east of Luzon, inside the Philippine area of responsibility. It is expected to move north-northeast and will move far from the landmass,” Pagasa specialist Benison Estareja said in a weather report.
The new bad weather may likely form in the West Philippine Sea, based on PAGASA data for September 11 to September 17, 2024. According to the agency, the chance of it becoming a typhoon is low and would not have a direct effect on the country.
Pagasa added that the LPA may only result in minimal enhancement of the southwest monsoon, and they’re closely monitoring the two potential weather disturbances, the two tropical cyclones will be named “Ferdie” and “Gener” once inside PAR.
For the meantime, Typhoon “Enteng” (international name: Yagi) is affecting Northern Luzon where cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms would prevail. It also continues to enhanced the Southwest monsoon or Habagat bringing rains over Zambales and Bataan where Orange warning level is raised.
Yellow warning level is issued in Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal and Cavite, associated hazard of flooding in flood-prone areas. The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advised to monitor the weather conditions and updates from Pagasa.
Torrential rains are being experienced over the western sections of Luzon including Metro Manila due to enhanced southwest monsoon, while the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms.
