Thursday afternoon the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) spotted another low pressure area (LPA) precipitated from cumulus clouds after typhoon Carina exited the country.
"It is still far from the land and it does not have a direct impact on any part of our country. In our current forecast, there is little chance that this will become a typhoon within the next 24 or 48 hours," said DOST-Pagasa Weather Specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda.
The LPA was last seen 1,035 kilometers east of southeastern Mindanao at 3 a.m. According to the wind map of the weather company, it will move in the Philippine Sea to the northwest and it is possible that it will become a typhoon and will have a local name "Dindo."
The LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers to the Bicol region, eastern portion of Visayas and Mindanao over the weekend, according to PAGASA.
Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon or habagat will will continue to bring rains in the Ilocos Region, Batanes and Babuyan Islands. There will also be an occasional rain over Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga and Bataan.
Overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms would prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. While isolated downpours would be over Visayas and generally fair weather over Mindanao.
Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms would be experienced especially in the late afternoon or at night due to the localized thunderstorms according to Pagasa.
