NCR WINS OVERALL CHAMPION AS PALARONG PAMBANSA 2024 ENDED

The Palarong Pambansa 2024 ended successfully this Tuesday and the athletes are very grateful to this year's host, Cebu City. After winning the Palarong Pambansa 2024 overall championship, the National Capital Region (NCR) once again proved to be the supreme destination for the Philippines’ top young athletes.

The National Capital Region (NCR) captured its 17th straight overall championship and brought home 98 gold medals, 66 silvers, and 74 bronzes. Second Place is Region 4A (CALABARZON) with 57 golds, 51 silvers, and 53 bronzes. 

Third placer was Region 6 (Western Visayas) with 56 golds, 41 silvers, and 41 bronzes. Followed by Davao Region (Region 11) winning 32 golds, 25 silvers, 35 bronzes and 29 golds, 42 silvers, 39 bronzes for Central Visayas (Region 7) rounded out the top five, showcasing strong performances across various events.

Elaiza Yulo, the youngest sister of Olympian Carlos Yulo won several gold medals  in gymnastics and claimed the individual all-around title and led the National Capital Region to the team gold.

Marking the end of a successful Palarong Pambansa 2024, flags representing the different participating regions making the ceremonious exit celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among young athletes.

Present at the closing ceremony was outgoing Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary and Vice President Sarah Duterte along with Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Cebu acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia.

Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Manotoc and Laoag City Mayor Michael Marcos Keon accepted the hosting responsibilities during the closing ceremony as it was announced that the next host of the 65^th Palarong Pambansa will be Ilocos Norte in the year 2025.
