Based on the data released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMI), it shows that over 39,000 vehicles were added to Philippine streets in September as there were more stock arrivals and promotions from local manufacturers.

In a joint report by CAMPI and TMI, new motor vehicles sold in September stood at a total of 39,542 units which was higher than the 38,628 units sold in September 2023 and the 39,155 units sold in August.

Sales for this year is expected to grow by 9% to 468,000 units and this might increase to 500,000 as the CAMPI hosts the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) this October.

“There were no new model releases last September, possibly due to the brands’ preparation for the upcoming PIMS in October where we expect new launches will be made,” CAMPI said.

73.60% of the sales in September were commercial vehicles with 29,104 units, while the remaining 26.40% were accounted by passenger car sales with  10,438 units.

Sales of Asian utility vehicles (AUVs) stood at 7,123 units, light commercial vehicles at 20,964 units, light-duty trucks and buses at 544 units, medium-duty trucks and buses at 401 units, and heavy-duty trucks and buses at 72 units.

CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez said, “The increase can be attributed to new stock arrivals and improved promotions from the brands.”

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. held a 46.21% market share, followed by Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corp. with 19.18%, Ford Group Philippines with 6.23%, Nissan Philippines Inc. with 5.90%, and Suzuki Philippines Inc. with 4.35%.

Year-to-date sales were recorded at 344,307 units, reflecting a 9.4% increase from the 314,843 units sold in the first nine months of 2023.
