MORE THAN 100 SK OFFICIALS HOSPITALIZED FOR FOOD POISONING

Around 163 individuals were simultaneous sent to a hospital in Olongapo City after complaining upset stomachs and diarrhea which was suspected to be food contamination or poisoning after attending a seminar inside a hotel.
335 participants including Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), Mayor Julier Resuello, Vice Mayor Joseres Resuello and members of the city council attended the 2-day Gender and Development seminar organized by the local government of San Carlos City in Pangasinan, at the Subic Bay Travelers Hotel and Event Center.
When around 2:30 p.m. the first complaint of stomach pain was received and was attended by the hotel nurse. Until more victims vomited and showed signs of food poisoning and were rushed to different hospitals around James L Gordon Memorial Hospital, Baypoint Hospital, ZMMG Hospital, St. Jude and Ulticare.
Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. immediately went to the hospital after knowing the event, “We immediately went to JLGMH because we heard that some SK from Pangasinan got food poisoning in a hotel in SBFZ. They are currently being treated at our hospital, some of them are in good condition and we are bringing them back to their hotel.”
Authorities from Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), led by the Public Health and Safety Department (PHSD), Fire Department, and the Law Enforcement Department conduct an investigation upon receiving the report. Victims have already been discharged and were prescribed with medicines.
The Traveler Hotel said that they will shoulder the medical expenses of the victims. And if the hotel’s water sample and food sample results being examined were found to have problems or deficiency, the SBMA will impose sanctions to the hotel.
