MMDA: NUMBER CODING SCHEME SUSPENDED ON AUGUST 23 AND 26

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the number coding for vehicles will be suspended over the long weekend.
On their post, the agency said that the number coding scheme will be lifted on Friday, August 23 for the commemoration of Ninoy Aquino Day. And on National Heroes’ Day on Monday, August 26 which is a regular holiday.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier moved the commemoration of Ninoy Aquino Day which is August 21 (Wednesday) to August 23 (Friday) for a longer weekend and to promote domestic tourism.
The holiday of August 21 commemorates as a “day of infamy,” with the 1971 bombing of Plaza Miranda and the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Simeon Aquino, Jr. on Aug. 21, 1983.
The expanded number coding remains in effect from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays except holidays according to the MMDA.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said that it will deploy personnel's to public transport terminals, seaports, airports, and other major thoroughfares ahead of the long weekend. And will also deploy K9 units to secure baggage's.
