48 flights were cancelled in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) due to the outage of IT systems affecting several airlines. The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) released a flight advisory on Saturday (July 20) 8 a.m.
MIAA General Manager Eric Ines said that airlines should inform passengers on flight status, including flight numbers, scheduled departure times and when they have to be at the airport.
Technical issues were experienced linked to the massive failure of Microsoft-based systems. Airport staffs have no choice but to revert to manual check-ins, leading to long queues and further delays.
