MASSIVE LANDSLIDES BLOCKED ROADS AND KILLED LIVES

Still due to heavy and continues rains fall, landslides were reported in various areas in the country. In Ilocos Norte, the provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office evacuated families as a soil erosion occurred near the residential area of Barangay Catagtaguen, Banna.
 

In Agoncillo Batangas, four were killed including a pregnant women after their house got covered by the landslide.
 

“The victims are members of the Rimas family: a six-month pregnant woman aged 28 and three minors aged 9, 13, and 15,” the report said. The report did not identify the victims’ names.
 

While one was killed in Nasugbu Batangas when a soup vendor was pinned down by an uprooted huge acacia tree.
 

Local governments of Baguio and Benguet released notice for motorists to have patience and take alternative routes while the roads are being cleared. Landslides and falling rocks blocked the Kennon road in Baguio and in Barangay Camp 4 Tuba and Millsite Camp 6 in Benguet.
 

Nueva Vizcaya - Pangasinan Road is not passable due to landslide in Sitio Pacalbo, Malico at Centro, Malico, Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya. 
 

According to the National Risk Reduction and Managament Council (NDRRMC), seven individuals were confirmed dead in Mindanao. According to a report, four of the victims died due trauma or suffocation by entrapment following landslide incidents.
 

The houses of the affected families were swept away by mudslide into the river in the height of the heavy downpour. The cadaver of one of the reported fatalities, was found and retrieved from the Pulangi River. The person who was injured in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental after crossing a river with strong current has died.
 

Meanwhile, according to Pagasa, the Typhoon Carina may reach super typhoon as it continues to intensify before it makes landfall in Taiwan.
