Among 60 international destinations in Forbes Advisor report, the capital and chief city of the Philippines Manila has ranked as the fifth riskiest city for tourists having a score of 91.49 out of 100.
The Philippine capital also has the highest natural disaster risk and ranked 9th in crime risk, 5th in personal security risk, 7th in health security risk, 9th in infrastructure security risk, and 12th in digital security risk.
The exposure and vulnerability of a city to natural catastrophes is reflected in the natural disaster risk metric. On the other hand, a quality of city's infrastructure falls under infrastructure security risk and quality of healthcare services is reflected in its health security metric.
Crime risk is the level of crime and digital security risk is the ability to freely use the internet without fear of privacy violations. The dangers associated with crime, violence, terrorist threats, natural disasters, and economic vulnerabilities are all reflected in personal security metrics.
Having a score of 100, the city of Caracas in Venezuela took the top spot on the list followed by Karachi in Pakistan, Yangon in Myanmar, and Lagos in Nigeria. After Manila follows the cities of Dhaka, Bangladesh; Bogota, Colombia; Cairo, Egypt; Mexico City; and Quito, Ecuador.
Meanwhile, earning a score of 0 out of 100 Singapore was named the safest city for travelers. Forbes Advisor cited it as having the best travel safety rating from the US State Department and having the lowest natural disaster risk. Also, the second lowest in terms of health security risk, infrastructure security risk, and digital security risk, reflecting the quality and availability of these services.
The second and third safest city around the globe are the cities of Tokyo in Japan and Toronto in Canada. After them are Sydney, Australia; Zurich, Switzerland; and Copenhagen, Denmark.
