A male dolphin has been stranded multiple times in the shallow waters off Pangasinan province. On February 14, Valentine’s Day, the dolphin was found by the local fishermen. That’s why the rescuers gave him the name "Hart.”
Hart has been stranded three times, trying to get him back to the water. The first was at the waters off Barangay Aloneng in Agno Town; the second one was in Barangay Boboy; and the third was in another Pangasinan town, San Fabian, implying he likely had health issues.
Due to these events experienced by the dolphin, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) suggested that Hart be transferred to Ocean Adventure in Subic, which is a marine theme park. The facility has a team of environmentalists and conservationists that actively protects the marine and wildlife, at the same time providing entertainment to the public.
President and CEO Robert Gonzaga of Subic Bay Marine Exploratorium, Inc. stated the collaboration of BFAR and the maritime theme park to safeguard marine life and ensure successful attempts. Its commitment is to provide the best care for Hart and other distressed marine mammals under its care.
Since then, there have been several reports of dolphins sighted wounded in the water in different towns of Pangasinan, which have been taken care of by the government agencies in the city.
