LONG EXPOSURE IN HOT WEATHER COULD LEAD TO DEATH
Cases of heat exhaustion and heat stroke have been recorded in different parts of the country due to the continued hot weather. According to the expert, it should be pay attention because it can lead to death if not treated promptly.

The threat to life of excessive heat exposure is serious, in fact in Oriental Mindoro there are 24 incidents of heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, where one died. But the provincial health office is still confirming if the death is really connected to the weather.
This week the heat index hit 41° in Calapan, according to Dr. Cielo Ante of PHO Oriental Mindoro the patients who were considered for heat stroke and also have confirmed heat stroke are elderly. Middle-aged workers hit with heat exhaustion and young people playing basketball in the sunshine.
In Dagupan City, four people were also affected by heat stroke according to the Provincial Health Office. In Pikit Cotabato, the students helped to lift a classmate who passed out Monday morning out of the classroom.
Symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke include excessive weakness, slurring while speaking and loss of consciousness. This week 15 places in the country experienced a heat index that can be considered dangerous to health.
"The relative humidity is higher when closer to bodies of water, it is expected that the cases that are in the danger category will continue to increase in different places in the Philippines,” Dr. John Manalo Climatologist of PAGASA said.
