A row of poles in Lambakin Marilao Bulacan was knocked down after being hit by a dump truck causing a domino effect. It affected the traffic in the area and the electricity of the households.
About 17 poles were damaged in the accident including Meralco poles (10) and Telco poles (7), while about 743 households lost electricity supply. Residents in the area have no choice but to sleep outside their homes due to the heat and others needed to walk as vehicles cannot pass the road.
" May kumislap na po bago ako makarating dito sa pinaka-last na tumumbang poste bale biglang lahat nag-boom lahat ng wire, nagputukan na. Buti na lang po hindi ako masyado nagmadali hindi ako inabutan sa daan. Mabilis lang kasi tuloy-tuloy po yung bagsak kumbaga parang domino effect," one of the residents said.
A motorcycle rider, and a cyclist were injured when they were hit by cables. Ten of the fallen poles belong to Meralco. Wires crossed the road, some of the poles also fell on the roof of a school in the area, even the wall of a subdivision.
According to Meralco, it will not be easy to install a new line in the area, "The quality of the ground is hard rock and there are many pedestrians, it is quite difficult to control."
Based on the investigation, the truck accidentally rear-ended a large pole and did not notice it so it crashed. With the force of the impact, the other pole also collapsed. The truck driver will face a complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to properties.
