KRISTINE DISPLACED MILLIONS OF FILIPINOS; 46 REPORTED DEAD

After the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, it left over 2.6 million Filipino individuals affected and over P15.2 million damage to infrastructure while damage to agriculture is at P9.7 million as of October 25, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.
A total of 569,524 families or 2,656,446 individuals were evacuated which, 64,447 families or 239,200 individuals were staying at 5,791 evacuation centers while 19,961 families or 80,497 persons are being aided outside evacuation centers.
On NDRRMC’s situation report 15 regions in the country were affected, the Bicol Region logged the highest number of affected population at 1,860,625 and the most damage at 15,000,000.
Followed by BARMM (435,135), Region III (101,444), Region XII (78,069), Caraga (38,614), Region VI (37,873), Mimaropa (33,364), Calabarzon (24,623), Region II (21,777), Region IX (17,118), CAR (5,490), Region I (1,300), Region X (503), Region VIII (452), and Region VII (59).
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) also reported that 46 people have been reported dead due to the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine. Most of the reported fatalities were from the Bicol Region with 28, followed by Calabarzon with 15. One fatality was reported each in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
There were also 20 persons reported missing and seven others were reported injured due to Kristine.
Police director Andre Dizon for the hard-hit Bicol region said that rescue workers continue to battle floodwaters to reach residents still trapped on the roofs of their homes. "Many are still trapped on the roofs of their homes and asking for help. We are hoping that the floods will subside today, since the rain has stopped.”
