JULY 1-30 TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF TOLL COLLECTION IN CAVITEX; OIL PRICE HIKE NEXT WEEK
The Presidential Communication Office announce on Friday that starting July 1, 2024, the toll collection in Cavitex will be temporarily suspended as per as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This includes the collection activities through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and cash transactions.
"The Toll Regulatory Board composed of the DOTr, DPWH, DOF, NEDA and the private sector has approved the recommendation to suspend toll collection - RFID and cash - in all parts of CAVITEX from July 1 to July 30 of this year," President Marcos said.

The TRB is composed of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Finance (DOF), National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), and the private sector.
“We thank the TRB for their prompt action on this PRA recommendation. We also thank the MVP Group for supporting this proposal,” he added.
In a two-page resolution, the TRB decided to temporarily suspend collection of toll fees after President Marcos mentioned the proposed 30-day toll holiday in his speech during the inauguration of the Cavitex C5 Link Sucat Interchange and Groundbreaking of the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 3B on June 21.
“So, I now invite my fellow Filipinos to take advantage of our expressways. Experience firsthand the ease and convenience that these roads will bring to our daily lives,” PBBM stated.
“This is especially so after receiving the good news that the PRA, as operator of the Cavitex, proposed to suspend the collection of toll fees for all types of vehicles passing through Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway. I now count on our Toll Regulatory Board to ensure the immediate implementation, for the benefit of the riding and the transport public,” it added.
Meanwhile, for three consecutive weeks, another oil price hike is seen on the first week of July according to the Department of Energy (DOE). Price of Gasoline may rise to P0.50 to P0.80, Diesel P0.30 to P0.60, and Kerosene P0.20 to P0.40.
This is because “global supply outlook remained threatened by the potential escalation of geopolitical unrest, due to the drone attack of Ukraine hitting Russian refineries, the production restriction of OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) and the forecast for the peak summer season demand starting third quarter of this year,” DOE said.
