Bayyo Association Incorporated plans to appeal the dismissed petition questioning the legality of PUV modernization program. According to Atty. Sonny Matula of the Bayyo Association, they will fight the grievances of operators and drivers who are forced to buy modern jeepneys that cost more than two million pesos each.

The Supreme Court first dismissed the petition because the organization did not have enough documents to prove that it was a group of drivers and operators affected by the program. Two other petitions are pending before the Supreme Court, including the request for a temporary restraining order by the Piston group.

The deadline for the consolidation of public transport was extended until April 30. After the deadline in April, the franchise of those who fail to consolidate will be revoked.

Meanwhile, the group of riders and drivers also appealed to the LTFRB for the commission to regulate ride and delivery hailing apps. According to Laban TNVS President Leonardo de Leon, the riders and drivers of four wheels and motor taxis have been abused because of the large commission of transport network vehicle service.

He said that the companies get up to 40% because the riders and drivers are asked to pay the 20% discount for the PWD, Senior citizens, and students. So, they only take home 60 %. De Leon insisted that the health of the riders and drivers is compromised who work 12-16 hours to earn money.
