ITCZ, SHEAR LINE, NORTHEAST MONSOON, LOCALIZED THUNDERSTORMS AFFECTING PH – PAGASA

Four weather systems are affecting the Philippines and are expected to bring isolated or scattered rain showers in many parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
On the state weather bureau’s forecast, the shear line - where the hot and cold air converge - would influence atmospheric conditions in Northern and Southern Luzon areas. Including Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora and Quezon where rains and thunderstorms would be likely.
While Pagasa said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) has been bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains over Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Bohol, Siquijor, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
“Due to the effect of the intertropical convergence zone, there is a high possibility of rainfall in large parts of the Mindanao area. We also see cloud clusters that may bring rain to areas in the Visayas today,” said Pagasa.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or "amihan" is bringing partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, the rest of Central Luzon, the rest of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro and Marinduque.
“It is dangerous to set sail, especially along the coastal waters of Northern Luzon, because we expect rough to very rough seas due to the effect of the northeast monsoon, particularly in the waters of Batanes, as well as Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, and the coastal waters of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur,” Pagasa weather specialist stated.
The rest of the country may anticipate partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA said that no tropical cyclone or low pressure area has been monitored in the coming days.
