ITCZ, AMIHAN, SHEAR LINE TO BRING RAINS OVER PARTS OF PH – PAGASA

Three weather systems will continue to trigger rains in many parts of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

An Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), shear line, and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is expected to bring rains and colder winds all over Luzon during the second week of December, according to the state weather bureau.

Rain showers will be felt throughout the week over Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, and the eastern portions of Central Luzon and CALABARZON due to the northeast monsoon (Amihan) and shear line.

On Monday, Tuesday, and during the weekend, rains will be felt in northern MIMAROPA, Bicol, and northern portions of Samar, Negros, and Panay. "Current Amihan surge will be much weaker Wednesday through Friday though a fresh surge will envelope Luzon by weekend.”

Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rains over most of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, but will subside before the upcoming weekend.

ITCZ is an area where the winds from the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere meet. The shear line, an imaginary line where the hot and cold air converge. 

Weather in Metro Manila will mostly be overcast with passing rains during the week and "may experience longer sunny intervals during the weekend." 

No typhoon is expected to develop within the next three to four days said PAGASA, but it also warned that a low pressure area may form east of Mindanao along the ITCZ inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday and may affect the southern portion of the country on the third week of December.
