The country’s biggest drug haul in a single police operation of almost two tons of shabu worth more than P13 billion at a checkpoint in Alitagtag in Batangas, it is possible that an international syndicate is behind the drugs.
President Marcos Jr. personally inspected the seized shabu, in the midst of which the president warned those involved in the illegal drug trade and that the government will not side on anyone.
“We will continue to take action of what you are doing, we will catch you, the Philippines is small. This is the approach we are taking to the drug war. We take apart, we break up the syndicates, we really investigate anyone we see who is an accomplice in the drug trade, even a politician, powerful politician or police,” PBBM stated.
Right now, the authorities are still investigating where and how the illegal drugs were brought into the country. But the national police said that it definitely did not come from within the Philippines.
PCol. Jean Fajardo PNP Spokesperson, “Possibly someone used a yacht to get these illegal drugs. It is not possible that this is part of a larger shipment of drugs. One of the things that is being looked at is that these illegal drugs entering our country are not always the intended users, what is happening is that the Philippines is only becoming a transshipment point.
Interior and local government secretary Benhur Abalos said that it is important to immediately inventory the seized shabu, go through the proper process and destroy it as soon as possible.
