HEROES’ PARADE FOR 2024 PARIS OLYMPIANS ON AUGUST 13, MMDA TRAFFIC ADVISORY

After more than two weeks of competition by more than 200 world delegations, the 2024 Paris Olympics have come to an end. Of the 22 athletes who competed for the Philippines, the country won a total of four medals, two gold and two bronze from three Filipino athletes.
On August 13, 2024 (Tuesday), there will be a heroes' grand homecoming parade for the Filipino Olympians which would be held at 3 p.m. that will begin at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City and end at Malacañang Palace in Manila.
According to the Presidential Communications Office, before proceeding on the heroes’ parade, there will be a welcome ceremony by government officials for the 2024 Paris Olympics athletes.
“A special program will follow, where the President will personally honor the athletes and present them with well-deserved incentives, recognizing their extraordinary contributions to Philippine sports and their stellar performance during the 2024 Paris Olympics,” the PCO statement said.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be implementing a stop-and-go traffic scheme, and announced road closures and alternative routes for motorists to avoid traffic congestion.
The parade will start at the V. Sotto Center Island, left turn to Roxas Blvd., right turn to P. Burgos Avenue, straight to Finance Road, straight to Ayala Blvd., straight to P. Casal St., Legarda St., right turn to Mendiola St. and right turn to Jose Laurel St.
Alternative routes for motorists traveling northbound toward Road 10 to take the Roxas Boulevard service road, Taft Avenue, F.B. Harrison Street and A. Mabini Street. Southbound motorists should take T.M. Kalaw Street and United Nations Avenue, the MMDA said.
