Thousands of examinees are expected to flock at the University of the Philippines (UP) at Diliman Campus in Quezon City for the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT). The university released a warning advisory for the heavy traffic and to take alternative routes.
According to the UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (UP OVCCA), from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (August 10-11, 2024), 23 academic buildings in the campus will serve as testing centers. The academic oval will be closed to joggers and cyclist this weekend.
A 10-second rule will also be implemented for loading and unloading passengers at designated drop-off points, where a "No Parking/No Waiting Policy" would be enforced at the Academic Oval and three streets in UP Diliman. Parking areas have been designated inside the campus and a one-way and two-way traffic measure on several streets.
“It is estimated that more than 30,000 examinees will go to the campus each day of the exam, so the traffic flow inside the campus and its nearby areas is expected to be heavy. Everyone is advised to find alternate routes.”
Hopeful examinees are taking the entrance exam for the country’s premiere state university despite the rain. As the weather state bureau PAGASA reported a thunderstorm advisory where moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds can be experienced affecting several areas in Metro Manila including Quezon City.
