HEAVY RAINS IN LUZON AND VISAYAS, DANGEROUS HEAT INDEX REACHING 47°C - PAGASA

State weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecast that rain will be experienced in some parts of Luzon and Visayas due to the southerly wind.
Scattered rain is likely to be experienced for the entire day in places in Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales and Bataan. The southwest monsoon will also bring moderate to heavy rain to Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, Bulacan, Tarlac and Batangas. Likewise in Zamboanga Peninsula, Western Visayas, and the rest of Mimaropa.
It is said that there is a higher chance of rain during the afternoon to evening. These rain showers may be accompanied by lightning, thunder, and strong winds.
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” it said.
Meanwhile, dangerous heat index are still recorded in 24 areas by the Pagasa which may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion and even heat stroke.
Highest heat index is experienced on Aparri Cagayan with 47°C followed by Tugegarao City Cagayan reaching 46°C. Dagupan City Pangasinan and Echague Isabela had a 45°C dangerous heat index.
