Pinay rower Joanie Delgaco is also newly qualified for the Paris Olympics after finishing fourth place in the 2000-meters competition in South Korea. Joanie was emotional after finishing the race and hugged her teammates, she said the one-month training in China was a big help.
Joanie was congratulated by the Philippine Olympic Committee for making history as the first Pinay rowing Olympian and 12th Pinoy to enter the Olympics. Joanie is from Bicol and is a former volleyball player.
17-year-old Pinay gymnast Levi Ruivivar dedicated her qualification to the Olympics to her late grandfather who always told her stories about the Philippines, took her to karaoke and sang, which made her happy.
The Philippine Olympic Committee is still formally counting and expecting more Filipino athletes to be qualifiers in various sports for Paris Olympics. They also extend heartfelt congratulations and wishes for the athletes competition in Paris 2024, “their dedication, perseverance, and exceptional talent are an inspiration to us all.”
