World-renowned multi-Michelin-starred British celebrity chef and TV personality Gordon Ramsay visited the Philippines for the first time and diners had the chance to meet him at the Manila branch of Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
The Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill opened at Newport Resorts World in August 2024 with the chef’s signature 300-US-dollar (around P17,500) Beef Wellington dish. The exclusive event gathered over a thousand industry tastemakers, including F&B leaders, celebrity chefs, food influencers, culinary students, and devoted fans.
Ramsay holds mini 'Masterchef' challenge where celebrity chef Judy Ann Santos, food influencer Ninong Ry, culinary student Danica Lucero, and Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill PH Head Chef Bea Therese Qua presented their unique takes on the Philippines' iconic dessert, Halo-Halo.
While Gordon is in Manila, Filipino food content creator Abi Marquez also had the rare opportunity to cook for Gordon Ramsay after the multi-awarded celebrity chef left a comment on her recent TikTok video where she turned crab cakes into lumpia.
"But can you do it with a Beef Wellington?" Marquez gamely accepted Ramsay's challenge. Upon trying the "Beef Wellington Lumpia," Ramsay told Marquez: "I'm really sorry, but I don't like it. I love it!"
On TikTok, Niana Guerrero and Ranz Kyle made Gordon Ramsay dance in a seven-second clip to the audio "Make Her Tap Out" with some cute moves while in the kitchen of Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill Philippines.
In a rare opportunity to address his Filipino fans in person, Gordon Ramsay expressed his profound admiration for Filipino and Asian cuisine. For the chef, Filipino cuisine is the "sleeping beauty of Asia."
The multi-Michelin-starred chef also made an announcement to open probably three more restaurants in the Philippines, including possibly the country’s first ever Hell’s Kitchen.
“We are looking at potentially three new restaurant sites here in the Philippines. So, I’d be attending the group and looking at some really fun sites and stuff to come, maybe a beautiful Hell’s Kitchen restaurant.”
Gordon is the chef behind several Michelin-starred restaurants, including Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in the UK and Le Pressoir d'Argent in Bordeaux. He's opened restaurants worldwide, including Singapore, UAE, and Japan.
