The Department of Transportation (DOTr) MRT-3 announced that it will offer a free ride for government workers from September 18-20 (Wednesday to Friday) in solidarity with the celebration of the anniversary of Philippine Civil Service.
According to the announcement, government employees will get free rides during the entire MRT-3 operation hours during the said three days. “It is only necessary to show the employee ID to the station personnel to prove that they are government employees and receive a free ride.”
The first MRT-3 trains leave North Avenue Station at 4:30 a.m. and 5:05 a.m. from Taft Avenue Station. While the last trains leave North Avenue Station at 9:30 p.m. and 10:09 p.m. on Taft Avenue Station.
“Binabati at pinasasalamatan po natin ang lahat ng mga empleyado ng gobyerno na naglilingkod nang tapat para sa kapakanan ng publiko. Layon ng libreng sakay ng MRT-3 na makapaghatid ng kahit kaunting kasiyahan sa kanila na tanda ng aming pagsaludo at pasasalamat sa kanilang mga sakripisyo. Mabuhay ang mga kawani ng gobyerno!” MRT-3 General Manager Oscar B. Bongon said.
(We congratulate and thank all the government employees who serve faithfully for the public good. The aim of the free MRT-3 ride is to bring at least a little satisfaction to them as a sign of our salute and gratitude for their sacrifices. Long live the government employees.)
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) spearheads the 124th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, series of 1997 declaring the month of September as the Civil Service Month. This is in observance of the establishment of the Philippine Civil Service by virtue of Public Law No. 5 (An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands) on 19 September 1900.
